1. Evaluate the structural integrity of your roof.
2. Identify potential shading issues affecting the roof.

Electrical System Inspection:
1. Assess your current electrical system.
2. Determine any modifications required for seamless integration.

Inverter and Battery Placement:
Identify the optimal location for the inverter and battery system.

Energy Needs Evaluation:
Assess your energy requirements based on past electricity bills and future needs.

Design

Panel layout:
Determine the most suitable arrangement for the solar panels. Consider factors like sunlight exposure, shading, and available space

Electrical Wiring System:
Design the electrical wiring system for efficient connections between solar panels, inverters, and the main electrical panel.

Performance Analysis:
Analyse estimated monthly electricity generation, annual and overall savings, degree of energy independence, and system payback time.

Installation

Scaffolding will be assembled a few days prior to the scheduled installation. On the appointed installation date, our team will arrive at the site and have a brief conversation with you to confirm the installation details. The onsite work will be carried out by our experienced electricians and roofers, and may take 2-3 weeks to complete.

After commissioning your solar power system, we will show you how to navigate the settings on the inverter and monitor the operations using the dedicated mobile app.

Register Your System

We will register your system with your local Distribution Network Operator (DNO) for grid connection approval and regulatory compliance.

We will obtain MCS certificates for both solar PV (if system size ≤ 50 kW) and battery storage, so you can apply to your utility supplier to get paid for exported electricity.

Handover

We will send you a comprehensive handover pack including system design diagrams, product data sheets, warranties, MCS certificate(s), commission test results and maintenance procedures.

Remote Monitoring & Tech Support

We will add you to a WhatsApp support group where you can find a dedicated support engineer who will answer your questions, monitor your system operation, support you through future system upgrade and troubleshoot any technical issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the energy output of commercial solar panels?

In the UK, daily solar radiation averages 4.5 kWh/m2, with regional variations. Solar panel efficiency, measured by a performance ratio (0.7-0.9) and system efficiency (20%-22%), impacts energy conversion. For instance, a 100 kWp commercial solar system with a 0.85 performance ratio, 21% efficiency, and 1000 kWh/m2/yr radiation generates about 83,900 kWh per year.

How long do commercial solar panels last?

We use tier one commercial solar panels with 25-year warranties for monofacial and 30-year warranties for bifacial panels. They guarantee 85% performance by the end of their warranty but often last over 40 years, continuing to produce electricity.

How Much Do Commercial Solar Panels Cost?

While solar panels are a significant portion of commercial solar installation costs, other factors like roof condition, accessibility, electrical setup, and grid connection influence expenses. Typical costs range from £750 to £1,000 per kWp, totaling £75,000 to £100,000 for a 100 kWp/250 panel system. Payback usually occurs within 4-6 years, or less, depending on the cost of grid-supplied electricity it replaces.

Is battery storage necessary for my business?

Battery storage may not be needed for a 9-5 business primarily using daytime electricity. However, consider it when:

1. Ensuring power reliability during outages or energy rationing is essential.
2. Your business needs 24/7 power, and excess solar energy can be stored for nighttime use.
3. Off-peak electricity rates are substantially lower, and you want to store it for peak consumption reduction.

DO WE NEED PLANNING PERMISSIONS?

Starting in April 2015, regulations state that most non-domestic solar installations below 1 megawatt fall under permitted development. However, to qualify, your installation must still adhere to specific conditions. To learn more about these regulations, visit the Planning Portal or consult us for details tailored to your situation.

Are there any Tax Relief and Additional Income Potential?

Many businesses can offset up to £100,000 of their investment in taxes through the annual investment allowance.

The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), effective since January 2020, offers the potential for financial gains by selling surplus energy back to the grid. Under SEG, utility suppliers can determine the purchase prices. They tend to align with wholesale market prices, potentially resulting in sizable profits from excess energy generated by your solar panels.
